Recent reports indicate a significant increase in hospital admissions due to adverse reactions to weight-loss injections such as Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Saxenda. Since their introduction in 2019, nearly 400 individuals have required hospital treatment, with a notable 46% surge in cases within a single month. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has documented severe side effects, including nausea, vomiting, seizures, and life-threatening conditions like pancreatitis. Some hospitalisations have been linked to counterfeit products purchased online, which may contain harmful substances like insulin. Health professionals are urging caution, emphasising that these medications should only be used under medical supervision. There are calls for stricter regulations to control access and ensure patient safety.
